These are the supplied instructions for intake manifolds, please read them before installation!!
Thank you for purchasing an OCPerformance Parts, LLC GEN III Hemi Dual Plane Intake Manifold! Please read entire instructions and tips before installing.
Standard Intake Manifold Kit contents: (1) Intake manifold, (1) 2” open element breather, (1) Breather/Oil filler fitting with O-ring, (1) Brass 90 deg fitting, (1) Brass 45 deg fitting, (1) PCV valve, (1) PCV valve grommet, (2) stainless steel MAP sensor screws.
1) Important! If you have never installed an intake manifold before or are not sure about the procedures to do so, please STOP NOW and ask someone who has or have a qualified professional do it for you. There is a potential risk for fuel and vacuum leaks if not installed properly.
2) This is not a stock setup so if you are using a carburetor or EFI with this intake it MUST BE TUNED PROPERLY or engine damage may occur. If you are unsure, please ask a qualified professional.
3) We do our best to give you the highest quality products available, but please thoroughly inspect this intake manifold for any loose metal chips or debris and scrub it down in hot soapy water (i.e., use a dish washing liquid to cut any oil film or grease), rinse thoroughly, and completely dry thoroughly BEFORE installation and also after any modifications are done prior to final assembly.
4) Please check the fitment of the manifold on early (2003-2008) truck front cover and accessories applications around the (usually forgotten) A/C compressor foot that bolts to the cylinder head. A notch was provided but depending on the application it may need to be exaggerated to clear the foot of the A/C compressor.
5) If you are using the year 2003-2005 early coil packs with the plug wires, you will either need to reroute the factory spark plug wires, run shorty wires, or change to the year 2006 to present coils. To change to the year 2006 to present coils, the coils connections and valve covers need to be replaced.
6) This intake was designed for a factory 1 bar map sensor PN# 56041018AD or equivalent and attachment hardware is included (see included Installation Hardware Kit).
7) All threads in this intake manifold are standard threads (10-24, ¼-20, 5/16-18).
8) If you wish to use anything other than the factory type MAP sensors, the main sensor hole must be plugged and the 2 tapped holes that retain the OEM sensor must be plugged as well. We recommend installing the supplied bolts with a liquid sealer and tapping and plugging the MAP sensor hole with an NPT plug or NPT to hose barb for manifold vacuum to your sensor.
9) The 45 degree fitting supplied goes on the passenger side to connect to the PCV valve with a short piece of 3/8” vacuum hose ON EFI APPLICATIONS ONLY. In carburetor applications please plug the port in the manifold and use the large PCV vacuum port in the back or front of the carburetor. The 90 degree fitting goes in back for brake booster vacuum. A 90 degree PCV valve is supplied, however, if it eases your installation, a straight PCV valve (Beck/Arnley PN# 045-0318 or equivalent) can be purchased at an auto parts store if you prefer.
10) Torque value for the intake retention bolts as per the Factory Service Manual: “Install intake manifold retaining bolts, and tighten in sequence from the middle bolts towards the outside in a crisscross pattern. Torque fasteners to 12 N·m (105 in. lbs.).”
11) Oil change tip: If you pull the breather/oil fill fitting out of the intake manifold to fill the oil, it may be difficult to gauge the amount of oil going into the cavity and if you are not careful, the oil may back up spilling oil onto the intake and cylinder head. As a recommendation, if you get a 5” or so length of a 1” hose, you can loosen the hose clamp, remove the breather, leave the fitting in place, push the hose onto the fitting, and push an appropriate size funnel into the hose for an easy and fairly clean oil fill experience. Just remember to pop the hose and funnel off and reinstall the breather.
This intake is not C.A.R.B. certified and is only for use on
non-pollution controlled motor vehicles.
